Hello

I am having trouble getting my site dead on due to lack of equipment to do it with. I have just been putting it in my vice on my toolbench, but the kick it has keeps throwing it off every time I shoot it

BOTTOMLINE: have any of you got your sites professionally sited?? If so, about how much does it cost?

What rifle and scope are you using?

You say every time you shoot it the scope gets knocked of zero? If that is the case, your scope may be bad.

For me, I usually set my Kimber up in my shooting rest in my longest hallway in the house. I pull the bolt and bore sight it that way.

I will look through the bore and line it up with a small target. Then I will adjust the scope until its on the target as well.

That is good enough to get me on paper at 50 yds for me to start sighting it in.

I have to say, if you are doing your part but the scope keeps getting knocked off zero, either the scope is bad or a ring or mound is loose/ bad.

im doing everything right, but its the vice that keeps moving is my problem.. thats why i just wanna take it somewhere to get it zero'd in
then use a dif vice or make 1 from wood //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

way cheaper than having a shop do it..

barring that get a laser bore site tool for less than $50 ...

You still have to learn to sight it in yourself. It's two seperate tasks. 1) Mounting then 2) Sighting (called Zero'ing). First you need good mounts/rings installed correctly. Its not hard, but if you want it done right, you can have a local gunsmith do it for $35-$50. That does NOT include zero'ing. It may be close, but you still have to take it to the range to zero it for your intended distance and ammo type. The way you hold your cheek to the stock/scope will effect where that zero needs to be. No one else can do that for you. When you change ammo, distance or other variables, you will have to zero the rifle again. And zero it again, each year before (and maybe after) you go hunting, instruction or target shooting.

Tell us exactly what brand and model of gun, rings/base and scope.

You should be able to zero a rifle with just 3 shots. Or use a laser boresighter to get it close, but I won't trust it unless I see it hit the target zero'ed at my distance.

What do you mean you can't get it sighted?

Is it you? or the gun/scope?

Are you jerking the trigger? Is the recoil knocking the scope off? Are the rings mounted securely?

What rifle do you have? what caliber? What scope? What rings? What ammo are you using?

Different ammo will zero differently w/ the same gun. A faster round will not drop as much, but may 'wobble' in the air and not group as tight.

You have to find a round that your gun 'likes'. Even though a balistics chart says you should group 1/2 MOA, your barrel may not like the round or the power load and only give you 1.5 MOA. Barrel de-resonators like the ones Limb-Saver sells can help w/ that though.

Imho...if you cant get a high powered rifle to group 3-rnds within 1/2MOA @ 100yrds, get rid of that gun and buy a better one.

That or you just can't shoot.

This is my Wabbit Gun...she's dead on.....
