Simpleton Questions on 5.25" door speakers

Hello. I'm new but old car audio buff. Haven't dabbled in years but I used to have a decent system years ago (Alpine 6 disc, Hifonics Gemini, Clif Design 6.5 comps, JBL 1200GTI....dinosaur stuff) and was pretty knowledgeable about all the new gear. Now I'm old and have kids and have 'inherited' my wife's POS 1994 Sentra with pathetic stock cassette deck and buzzy stock speakers. Mainly I'll be commuting to a new job and need something decent to keep me from falling asleep at the wheel.

So 1994 Sentra (XE beyotch) coupe. I think it take 5.25" front speakers (not sure). I've got my newer Alpine head unit and disc changer I could use (was about $900cdn at the time new so they aren't cheapos) and want to get decent front door coaxials at reasonable price and decent bass. The Sentra is a tin box so that means shallow mounting depth....not sure total depth even with aftermarket mounting plates. Don't want to spend too much on anything as this car has gotta go in a few years.

So any recommendations on reasonable 5.25" speakers? I bought some Kenwood KFC (Kentucky Fried Chickens) years ago and was surprised at how decent they sounded. I thought Kenwood was crap personally but they were great speakers....a bit bright on axis but sounded good in the door.

Appreciate your help. Please be gentle but don't need to oversimplify for me. Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Thanks for the response Rich. Guess 5.25 Coax's are not in vogue here. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Bostons are near the top of the list. Looking at CDT's, JL's and a few others. Basically want decent midbass. It's only my wife's crappy Sentra so should be fine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Any comments on how the Bostons sound? Bright/mellow? Bassy/thin?

The boston sound very warm if ya know what I mean. They are not bright or harsh they sound very very good to me. I also like the CDT's they are a little harsh for me though.

Just make sure you get some Dynamat or something to deaden the speaker areas of that "tin can" or it won't matter what you put in it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
