Simple setup questions continued...SQ...

OK, here are the requirements of what I want:

- Somewhat lightweight (I'd prefer 1 10")

- Small space requirement

- Rolloff @ around 20-25Hz

- Flat, flat, flat response

- Efficiency is a must- I'll cut my deck if I have to...

Right now I'm really thinking of going with a Dayton 10" with a matched passive 10". What is the most efficient kind of system though? Would it make sense to run a port from my trunk to the inside of the car (i.e. not involving the speaker, like a giant bandpass box)? Right now I have 1 8" in a matched ported box and some decent 6x9's and they provide a decent amount of oomph...somehow they all work together and really reach low (I'd say they rolloff at 35-40Hz), so I'm just looking for a little more bass with the best accuracy and the lowest energy requirements.

So basically, here are the questions:

-Anyone have any experience w/passive radiators?

-Is a lot of the bass lost going through the back seat/rear deck? Would a port from the trunk to the cabin make sense w/o it connecting to the box?

-I only need about 300-400W RMS...should I just go w/a generic 12" in a ported box and call it a day?

I really want to do something different but at the end of the day I'm cool w/whatever works. So what do you think? 10+passive 10 or single 12?

Would a 10+pr 10 have a flatter response than a 12 in a sealed box (a .707 Qts I think the term is...in other words matched perfectly)? And which would be louder, assuming they have the same efficiency/ohms, etc.? How do pr systems sound compared to regular systems?

It's been my belief that PRs are good for about +3db all around, with a MUCH flatter low end than sealed. It won't outdo a properly ported enclosure, but they do take far less space. Also, an Aperodic Membrane can really save you in terms of space.

Also, in the waveform tests I've seen, the most ACCURATE bass response (output wave compared to input wave) is in sealed with a Q of 1.0, but that could be totally dependant on the woofer itself.

By +3dB, I assume you mean +3dB...if so, cool. Are they hard to get right as far as tuning (I'll be getting a matched set)? And what are aperiodic membranes?
