Random pre-fab sealed box screwed down on top of my SPL box creating a 4th order band-pass *laughs*

For those that don't know... this is a BM MKIII - it is a 3.5" deep SQ Woofer :

We got 136.3 from it in the regular sealed box by itself.

SPL figures taken sealed at the dash dB Drag style //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I plan to make a real SPL box soon for two of them... shooting for 150 dB! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You've got me a little worried that you might get to the 150 mark with two of them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif I thought for sure it'd be in the low 140's / high 130's today with a single driver but nnnoooo, you've gotta get all loud on me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

thats just not right, lol. how much power did you have going to that poor sub, 2 4500's?

thats a nice looking sub please more information, coil size, wire material, spider, total liner travel, rated power?

One 3500 at 2 ohms (I have 18v electrical right now) up until we killed it -- we gained a couple tenths strapping another amp on it but at that point the sub simply couldn't move any farther (we had two 3500s at 1 ohm on it when we killed it). The pre-fab sealed box was actually about 50% larger than suggested so was hurting mechanical power handling. My dedicated SPL box for the pair will be a TINY ported enclosure -- SI does NOT suggest ported for every day applications, though.

It has a 2.5" 8-layer round copper coil (true 8 layer), aluminum former with spiral cut, neo radial motor, XBL^2 topology, 14mm linear x-max one way, nomex spider 10" in diameter (yes, 10" spider), rated 450 RMS.

AKA: A truck wheel. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Imagine 8 layers of copper windings on a 16mm winding height. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

You should buy my Warden and test it in your SPL box for a 12"
I don't think a Warden would fit in the 0.6 ft^3 sealed enclosure we had the BM mkIII in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

I don't think he has a dedicated single 12" subwoofer SPL box. His "magic" box is for a 15" subwoofer, which is what was used for the quasi 4'th order bandpass box that we threw together.

I thought the magic box was for a 12", Nevermindz lulz.

You're not going to know until you test with a meter. Typically even carpeting a box as opposed to painting is going to lose a few tenths.
