Should subs be moving at the EXACT same time?

Hey guys, I've noticed with my 2 SE's that they do not move at the same time, it doesn't seem like they are out of phase though.

I'd say they are at MOST 45 degrees out of phase, not the whole 180.

Should I re-check my wiring?

Is this normal for them to be like this?

Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

I've never ran a pair of subs, only have done single 12's, any help would be appreciated.

yes they should hit every note at the same time

edit* wire them out of phase from what you have now, if they get louder then u had them oout of phase //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

for some reason.....some pairs of subs will do that. One reason is if you have the port closer to one sub then another, one can unload easier thus them moving a bit differently.

Disconnect them from the amp and use a small 9 volt battery to connect to the sub inputs. Both subs should move out at the same time and stay out. Reverse the battery and both subs should move in and stay in.

If they do, both wired correctly in phase. Your eyes are playing tricks on you 40 times a second is too fast for you to see with accuracy.

^--- Correct. It's not uncommon for you to think you are seeing them move at different times or speeds even though they are moving in tandem. Just check their phase using the above method and be happy with them. If they were really out of phase, you'd have massive loss in volume and quality of output.

huhhhhhhhh

if the subs are running mono they will move the same. if wired in stereo there may be a slight dif.
Not true. Wired 'mono' refers to both subs running off a single amplifier channel. You can do this, wiring the subs together parallel or in series, and still wire one out of phase with the other.
