shot in the leg...!!!!

i just unloaded the clip... i didnt load them into the gun lol. i can see how that was confusing. the clip was in the gun but was never loaded until later in the night...

because despite it being present we were not drunk. not to mention the fact that i loaded the clip long before any alcohol entered my system, long before i was even around it. long before i bought it...

the clip was loaded, and put into the gun (shouldnt be carrying around an unloaded weapon, unless you plan on intimidating somebody). but nothing was loaded into the chamber... until somebody didnt know that it was going to happen apparently and handed it back to me.

decockers scare the crap out of me, i prefer my .45s safety any day, everytime i hit a decocker i just wait to hear the bang.
I've never had any issues with any of the guns I own that are fitted with them (I'm a bit of a Ruger nut and seemingly everything they make in the calibers I am willing to buy are made this way now).

Having said that I always point at the ground or elsewhere safe with a known background prior to decocking it. It is a bit unnerving knowing you're fixing to let the hammer drop on a live round in the pipe but not want the gun to go off....

Aside from the other cardinal rules of firearm safety taught to myself and my siblings by our dad (who was an Army colonel and a rather unforgiving instructor when it came to guns) the very first thing he hammered into our little heads over and over and over and over and over (get the point yet?) was that there is no such thing as an unloaded weapon until you verify it for yourself ~ regardless of how trustworthy a person handed it to you. Somewhere in that list of rules was never, under any circumstances, use the presence of a firearm to intimidate someone. The only acceptable reason to point a handgun at another human being is if you full-well mean to end their life and then only if in inarguable self-defense. I amended that as I grew older to include if you mess with my family I will end you - period.

i agree with everything you just said... i wasnt however saying that you should be pointing a gun at somebody to intimidate them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif, i agree that it should always be pointed in a safe direction, and used only as a last resort. even then i usually dont look at guns, as weapons, but as tools. i never really even think about it as a weapon, and i hope it never comes down to that.

with that being said, i'm off to court today. in about 1 hour and 45 minutes... kinda nervous. but i should be allright.
