So I received my two shark amps today. I have pics of packing and guts for u guys to see my only complaint.

I opened one for my own gut shots and I did notice the power jump wires were sorta tucked between a cap and the power/outputmosfets(Idk which). My first thought was how the heat could burn through the sheilded 8ga wire. So I added a zip tie to kinda hold them off the mosfets. Yeah it was a simple fix but surely a source of failure if not attended too. I noticed on the apsm2k they useda bit longer wire to route it differently. So this would be my only complaint however I havent opened the other amp to see if they may all have this issue or just this one by chance.

So I installed it into my truck with stock electrical and 4ga(1/0 I know). I figured it would suffice since Im only gaining it for around 400rms with dmm. Its runnin @2ohms on 2 Jl w0 10s tuned at 36.

Here are the numbers I got without an o-scope but no audiable clipping. Lets keep in mind its gain set to 28.5 volts. I tested with a 41hz-0db since my truck and box peak@41.

I got 28.3v and 6a, so 170rms rising to 4.7ohms and voltage drop to 12.9v. In theory would be alot closer to rated/my tuning without such a high rise and voltage drop. Id say they are hungry but still plenty acceptable for me at this time with all things considered at 103bucks. I would suggest to anyone to be prepared to feed them well and def put some fans on em. DONT let the haters scare u away, remember its only 100bucks!

also bigger power wire may have help some on the voltage drop, and maybe gained you alittle more power

Yeah I know but its smokin hot here in Fla today so I didnt wanna run new wires too. I do think for a preliminary kinda open box testin it did fine for me. Yes I know this is no where close what its rated but again thats not was I was lookin for here. Just a simple quick run on 2 lil 10s.

yea that was alot of rise, but voltage drop wasnt that bad, i mean it did almost go to 5 ohms. i think it would have probly been right around 600rms if it was 4ohms on the money, and maybe alittle more juice. i wouldnt expect it to put out rated my self. so 600 is not that bad when its rated 800 @ 4ohm

I guess I'll come off sounding like the old fart so, I'll just own it.

When I started in car audio back in the day Orion 2100 HCCA amps were around $1300-$1400. They were good for around 1200 watts...when powered by a small .5 ohm stable nuclear reactor. Now, fast forward to 2013 and people are complaining about having to pay $250 for a 2000 watt amp. But, then you'll say "these are class D amps and the engineering s much better today". Is it? Let me ask you this...in 20 years will people have the same high opinions of Shark, VVME and Audiopipe as they continue to have of old school Orion? After all, there is something to be said for quality over cheap.

For the past 20 years, consumers have been demanding cheaper and cheaper products that are "OK" in quality and they want it RIGHT NOW. This has gone on so long now in car audio that 2000 watt amps are very nearly expendable. Especially those that only cost $103. How long before all manufacturers think like this and quality gets to the point where most everything has short life expectancy?

Car audio was...and needs to be, more than just garbage products with big claimed output and immediate gratification. There should be some quality of investment.

Yeah I dont expect rated for this money. My original plan was to run them strapped on 2 600rms subs(oa18v2s) and hope for around 15-1800 outta the pair of them. My main battle with this truck however is with voltage. Dodge regulates my charge to 13.6-7v hot, so right of rip Im not looking at rated 14.4 power. Even with my kinetik 1800 i could drop to low 12s with my ph4000. Im a sucker for new cheap underdogs so I hatched the plan for a 600build. Yes I know these are not the quality of my Mmats d100hc or kicker xs100 but these arent 1100.00 amps either. I may just for kicks do a similar test with my mmats soon just for fun.

As with everything this hobby needs to be about variety. What if someone just wants to add a little oomph to their car but doesn't want to sink an arm and a leg into investing in high end products?

If it wasn't for cheap items most probably wouldn't even be in this hobby. You have to get started somewhere. I known if the only thing I could purchase when I first got into this were $500 subs and $1000 amps I would have said no way. Why risk that much money on something I may not like? Companies would have lost a potential customer.

There will always be a market for high end items. That will never go away. But to think that everyone must own sundown/DC/Fi/etc or its no good is just stupid.

you have to take into consideration cost of building the productback then and competition on the market back then. back in the day you dont have chinese factories that can pump out amplifiers for under $50, cost of trading is so low right now that these prices you are seeing is actually priced with still a minimal amount of profit. only in the US that we pay almost 300% margin on car audio and for some reason everybody loves over paying which i dont understand.

You live in a city called "Kalamazoo", kill yourself.
you live in Melbourne where all the old and retired people live off of I-95, where the bowling alley advertised that they have gone digital scoring, you should look at where you live first what a moron

^^^THIS... i in NO WAY back AP. Ive never owned or used them. I have seen them work and seen a few impressive "SPL"(NOT SQ) builds. my friend has a apsm1500, been running it on stock 90amp alt @ .5ohm daily going on 6 months now. hes had no issues with the amp it self, his voltage does drop quite a bit(90amp alt), and it gets warm, BUT he has never had a problem with it getting to hot(amps never work the same for everyone, hence everyone saying you can "cook a steak" on thier mini's etc. and for his setup it works well for what it is and does good numbers on TL playing music.

Now as for big brands, ive owned sundown, crescendo, aq/sq(currently my sub), memphis, etc and i like them as well, i HOWEVER never paid for it new, i always caught it on a deal it was steal high but cheaper then getting it new. For now im just wanting to do a budget(REALLY BUDGET) SPL build so yea im looking for cheap power. Me and my wife just recently had a little girl so no alot of money to throw around on audio right now. SHE COMES FIRST BEFORE EVERYTHING. So flame me all you want.
