Shallow mount subs

I'm looking to purchase some shallow mount subs. I don't have much mounting depth so really only shallow mount subs will work. Looking for either 10's or 12's, don't really have a preference, just want them to sound good and have no distortion or fluttering when turned up. I mainly only listen to rock music so mainly want something that sounds good with that but occasionally listen to a rap song so I'd like it to sound good with that kind of bass also. The ones I'm currently looking to buy are the Alpine SWT or the Kicker CVT or the Kicker Comp RT. I know about all the other ones available but I'm only interested in these three options so please keep the advice pertaining to these three. Thanks in advance.

Is there a reason you recommend the alpine? Or do you just prefer alpine over kicker

Shallows are not good in general, but out of the three the Alpine is the best.

I have kicker CVT's and they get loud, but they don't have the same SQ as the alpines should have. I've never heard the alpines, nor have a lot of people on here.

But, $80 for a kicker CVT 12 is really a killer price lol, I have them in about 2.8 cubes ported on 1kw rms for both

That's why I'm curious about the alpines. I haven't seen a lot of info about them from people that have them.

I'd find someone who's run them before daily and see what they say. the kicker or the alpine in a proper box should work pretty well imo. skip a prefab

by the way, a lot of people don't know about this sub

but it's designed for extremely small space. this is really a crazy design but it has ridiculous excursion for a shallow mount and a low FS. id probably run this before the alpines if i wanted SQ

If you decide to look elsewhere i played with a dayton 12 shallow. But my go to shallow is the polk mm if you can find them.
