is the sfb 3000.1 not a good amp

I'm sure that they are fine amps, but 100% of them aren't going to be perfect. Maybe, you received a dud. What made you steer clear of Taramps 3K, like the Smart3?

Head unit and nothing's wrong with that amp.

Why would the HU clip with this amp and not his previous amp?

I read reviews on the taramps that said don’t last long. I play my system pretty hard. Couple hours everyday. As loud as possible. I figured I’d blow a taramp in a week or two. I can’t afford that

The mmats amp was in my 2017 jetta. I totaled that car a few weeks ago. Bought a 2019. Both were with stock head unit. The 2017 Jetta stock stereo was much louder than the 2019

No, unless you smell coil. The amp probably just isn't producing as much power as you'd like due to rise. dropping to the 12's is fine you're just at the point of overdriving the amp. Is it louder than the mmats?

I think @Slo_Ride is leading you down the right path. The factory signal is newer rides is shit. May have to get a dsp Versus an loc to get the output you want out that amp using factory radio.

He's only at 1/4 gain bag. He shouldn't be clipping that amp at 1/4 gain.
