So I'm building a system in an 08 GTi. As of right now i have:

2 JL10w3v3-2 in a sealed enclosure built to spec (.625 cu.ft.)

Roc Fos T2652s (comp) in the front doors 100w RMS

Roc Fos T142 (coax) also in the doors 40w RMS

Roc Fos T1652 (coax) for rear fill 75w RMS

Here are some questions.

Will i be ok running my subs off of a JLHD750/1 without anything heating up? Im assuming so, being that the subs are rated at 300w RMS.

Will I be ok running my T2652/T1652 (both 6.5") off of a JLHD600/4 without anything heating up?

Also, I was planning on running the T142s straight off the H/U, if that makes any sense.

Im not 100% sold on any specific H/U but i don't think that matters just yet. As for what I'm looking for, Im much more interested in SQ than I am SPL. I really just want to be able to hear my music on the highway loud and clear with the windows down. Im not interested in being heard coming down the block.

On that note, CC welcome and any advice is always appreciated. Thanks in advance.

All i have purchased are the speakers and sub. I built the box yesterday. I was wanting to do my homework before purchasing amps and a H/U.

The reason for the comps and coaxials in the door is that there's already 6.5"s, 4"s, and tweeters there from factory and I want to replace them all.

Then run a proper 3-way like even the factory did. Just because a speaker can physically fit in one of the holes doesn't necessarily mean it should. 1 midbass, 1 midrange, 1 tweeter... ideally that's what your door should contain. A comp set + coaxial is a recipe for a poor sound stage.

Yeah. I was just looking at a set of Focals for $800 on Woofers etc. Ive heard nothing but good things about Focal too...

What you're saying makes sense though. i wouldnt want it to be to harsh in the highs.

If that price doesn't scare you, look into Dynaudio and ScanSpeak.

It is a little scary to be completely honest. At the same time, I dont want to go nuts with the speakers only to feel like I half assed it with the subs. I could run 2 sets of comps and just ditch a set of the tweeters though, correct?

You said the doors have holes for a 6.5, 4 and tweeter. Im not sure anyone makes a 4" comp set.

You can go DIY and buy raw drivers the sizes you need. But you'd need to figure out what crossover network you'll use to get the freqs right. There's also more reasonably priced 3-way comp sets out there, if you just want to go the passive route.

No need to feel bad about $800 being a lot to spend on front speakers, it IS a lot of money. One suggestion Id give would be ditch the rear speaker idea, and put that money towards the front speakers. Either no rear speakers, or stock running off the h/u and attenuated down heavily.
