i currently have one dual 2ohm xxx15 in a snail shell designed enclosure wired to a bx1500d at one ohm. ive had this setup for about a year and it is very loud and sounds very good, but with this hobby, you all know how it goes; you always want to try something new and im still quite the bass-head..
ive wanted to try ddaudio for years and i think its about time. so, i was wondering if any of you guys would recommend the dd3500 series. ive always been a single-sub kind of guy, but 2 12s sound so intriguing because of the added cone area over a single 15, especially that of the dd variety, though the 9900’s, 9500's and 9100's are way too $$$ for me to do anything more than a single-sub setup.
the two dual 4ohm 3512d's would be powered by an orion 2500d or something similar at 1ohm and probably in a 4.25 - 5^3ft box tuned to 35-38hz.
my car is a 98 accord sedan, so im hoping the box will fit. my current snail shell's external dimensions are 18"h x 33"w x 21"d which roughly yields a 5.9^3ft gross internal volume and i know i cant fit anything larger than that through the opening of my trunk..
the audioque hd's seem to be pretty good drivers as well, but i thought id give dd a whirl....perhaps next time.
also, dd's website states that they have a continuous power handling of 1000 watts rms.
i know that dd's subs are notoriously underrated when it comes to power handling and that they really shine with way over the recomended power, but i think roughly 1250 watts to each 3512 will be sufficient, no?
my electrical system is taken care of, so thats out of the question.
basically, i just want to know if anyone thinks that this will be a worthy change. any opinions and suggestions are welcome (preferably from those who have had experience with both audioque and ddaudio) and thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif .
