setting gains

I just picked up an smd DD-1. The manual is pretty straightforward about setting the head unit and amps. BUT, It doesnt say anything about processors., ie: I've got an Audiocontrol Four.1.. I get that I should flatten out the settings on the eq. I don't know if it's even relevent to test it cuz i keep the linedriver settings turned all the way up(+20 db) cuz the next device in line is an Audiocontrol 6xs. It can handle the hot signal from the 4.1.. I dont know if I should just turn the line driver in the 6xs up to it's highest safe potential and then set the gains on the amps like that..? Anybody thats run into this same situation or anything similar.. I'd appreciate your opinion. Thx
