Setting Gains

i tried setting my bass amp gains with a dmm today. on acv-200,but the numbers kept jumping high and low, and inbetween. any help???kicker 2500, trying to set at about 70.7?? any help?

you need to use test tones

use a 50hz 0db tone for sub amp, 1k for the highs

Forgive me if I'm an idiot. What makes a tone or any music 0db or any other number? Also, why 50Hz?

you can download the tonez at realmofexcursion.com get the -3db at 60HZ tone and burn a CD with it repeated for a long time. then set it using that frequency at the max volume you will listen to yoru system at. example being like.. volume level 25 out of 50 or something.
