Setting gains with LOC

What would be the the best way to set the amp gains when using a line out converter ?

Which should I set first, amp gain or LOC gain?

Should I let the amp do most of the work an just barely have the LOC gain turned up ?

I know using a LOC is less than desirable but I need to keep the factory head unit.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I didnt even touch the gain on my LOC when I used one. I exlusively used my amps gain knob.

Is that a Grand National in your avy? Is it yours?
timaishu,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes it's a Grand National ( 1987 )

Yes it's mine ( since '94 )

LOC gains should be maxed out.

I would play a 0db tone and see what the voltage is out of the LOC.

If it's something insanely high with the gain at 100% I'd back it off to something at the lower end (higher voltage) of your amp's sensitivity.

If it's 5v+ you may end up not having much range of volume control at the HU before reaching maximum volume -- even WITH your amp gains at thier min.

Thanks guys. I will try it out when I get a chance.

We're going to need a picture with your name/date on it to prove that car is yours.

I put a couple pics of the car in my gallery, check them out. I have tons of pics of it, what in particular are you looking for ?

How do I measure it out of the LOC ? It's just RCA hookups. Where do I put the probs ? I'm familiar with doing it for the speaker wires + - but I'm lost on the RCA thing.

Thanks,

Matt
