I just installed a new amp and am using my factory radio with a MTX Re-Q LOC. The LOC has gain-selection pots, one for both L and R channels. I am trying to properly set the gain on both the LOC and my amp. I think I am doing something wrong because I was able to nearly max out both amp and LOC gains without it sounding bad or clipping.
Based on what I've read on forums and guides, I want the gains to be set to the same voltage. So suppose I was using the sub output the Re-Q (max output voltage 8V RMS), and I have the pot maxed clockwise, that would be 8 volts of output? Then on my amp, I would set the switch to 2V-8V and max that pot clockwise as well, leaving both at 8 volts? Can someone please help me out with this?
Here's some reference:
Specs for LOC (I am using full-range output)
Max Output Voltage: 2.5V RMS Full Range, 8V RMS Sub (why does the pot only go to 2.5?)
Amp gain selection (Soundstream Rubicon RUB1.1000D)
