Set my gains with a meter, amp still getting hot???

Ground is good. Voltage at battery and amp don't go below 12v. The only thing that's off is my ohm reading at the amp, it reads 1.9 ohms. I set the gain at voltage for 1 ohm. I have two 4 ohm DVC subs. Each coil reads 4.2 ohms. Wired them in parallel, hooked one sub to the other, then one sub to the amp. What should I do/check?

so 2 dvc 4 ohm subs can be wired to 1 or 4 ohm, id check each coil of the subs make sure you dont have some womperjaw playing games. keep in mind most subs are not going to read perfect at like 2 or 4 ohm. id say if your coils ohm out at 3.7 - 4.2 they would be fine. How hot is hot here i mean that is a pretty small amp not alot of heatsink so its naturally going to get warm, especially at 1 ohm

Well your max output is 800 watts at 2ohms your clipping your amp if you set it to 1 ohm. set your voltage at 20Volts on your speaker outs with a 60hz tone. maybe i read that wrong if you reading 1.9 ohms your in series parallel. check your speaker wiring.

Is it getting airflow? where do you have it mounted? What size power wires are you running to it. OFC or CCA?
It's on the sub box in my trunk. Probably not too much air flow. 4gauge ofc kicker wire. No it's in parallel. Red to red, black to black, red first coil and black 2nd coil out from sub. Add a fan? Sounds too easy lol. The gain voltage for 1 ohm is lower than for 2 ohms when setting it, so it shouldn't be clipping I don't think. How hot? Like so hot u can smell it from 3 feet away

is that how they are wired

voltage dont go below 12 but depending on your multi-meter, it might not keep up with the faster beats which might already be driving it into extremely clipped waves and we do not know. It might also be your head unit sending a dirty signal.

Add details your setup into your signature like a lot of the guys on here and take some pictures of your setup. Take some of the amp setting, head unit settings along with the whole install. Pics of your ground and battery/engine compartment would help too.

Maybe worth considering?...

How hot is hot?

Amps get warm.

They'll get good and warm if you're pushing them hard.

If it gets too hot it will shut down.

If it's not shutting down it's not getting TOO hot.
