Seriously now... IA 20.1 vs. Orion 2500D NO BS

I was thinking, this might not sound right, but it does to me, so let me know...

If normal usage will be at 12V and 14.4V and .5,1,2, and 4 ohm, shouldnt that be all that is tested?

Sure, there are those hardcore guys who have bigger power systems, but for the normal guy, wouldnt it be enough?

If the only thing I didnt cover voltage wise is 16/17, and HCCAfan is telling me it should be ok, I guess it is a go, even though I would rather not, but for the purpose of testing, i wouldnt mind...you bastards...

thats fine with me, oh and flakko, if you would, I would like to see what the 2500 does as .5, as that is what I will be running it as...you know, just a number to go off of
Re-read this.

I dont think you're gonna want to do a .5ohm resistive load on these amps... I think what he means is that the loads he uses go in .5ohm incriments. You have to keep in mind that in a car, with the amps hooked up to a reactive load of about .5 your impedence rise usually goes to almost 3 ohms in some cases and as low as around 1 ohm in other cases, so the amps never see a load much lower than 1 ohm. Even when hooked up at .25 or .125 the imp still rises to around 1 ohm. Just wanted to warn ya... with the protect removed from the Orion the test could turn ugly real fast.

if you wantin to kill it go for it

you do NOT need to run it any lower then 1ohm...

because 1ohm is the reative load, there is no rise when there is a resistor

The protection can be removed and put back into place relatively easily since its just the one resistor on a sub-board.

I run mine 16v daily, so no issues //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. I'd had it up to 18v, and no problems.

Personally I dont see a reason to test them at anything other than 1 ohm and 2 ohm, and 12v and 18v. Just make sure you indicate what voltage you have at the amp at the time the acv and aca readings are taken.

cmon flakko UCP milenko GIT-R-DONE
with CES around the corner, the people at usamps will be VERY VERY VERY busy for the next week or so... it will have to be posponed until after CES i believe.

jan 5-8 i think.
