Sensor around factory ground wires?

Installing big three on 2006 Grand Prix. I noticed there is a sensor around the ground wires leaving the battery. Looks like a CT.

Wondering what its for and if I run a 1/0 ground from batt - to chassis outside the CT will it affect anything?
