Do I need an adapter for a 5.25" speaker in a 6x8" opening Where do I put tweeters?

I have a 1997 Mustang, and I just ordered a JBL P560C component speaker system, its expected to arrive on Tuesday and I want to be able to put those babies in ASAP, but I'm worried that I need an adapter plate to make them fit. I have heard of people drilling their own holes and such, and that's fine, but if an adapter would be better I would like to go with that.

I also don't know what to do with the tweeters and crossovers as to where I am going to mount them.

Please let me know if I need to order parts to make this work so I don't have to have my new speakers just sitting there waiting.

Thanks

Yes you will need 6x8 adapter plate that fits 5.25" speakers you can google it and they should just come right up. I had to get some for my car but for 6.5" cuz my hole pattern is like a triangle lol it's weird.

just make one (if you have a jig saw and drill). make sure the wood you use is water resistant (or paint it). also, use foam weatherstripping to seal the adapter to the metal, and to seal the speaker to the factory grill. those two steps are crucial to getting good sound.

Do you mean like foam insulation? I kinda like the idea of making it myself, but if I have to pay $10 on foam insulation spray its not very economically sensible when I could just buy an adapter for $8.

I almost forgot about the tweeters! I would like to mount them on the dash or on the ceiling by the visors, but I don't know how that would look, especially with wires hanging all over..

you have to go to the bottom of the page

made with 4 3/4" round cutouts to house most 5 1/4" aftermarket speakers - 1 pair - $14.99

made with 5 1/2" round cutouts to house most 6 1/2" aftermarket speakers - 1 pair - $9.99
