actually since the whole point is communication, if that end is accomplished, i think they are right.

But like i said, in this case it can lead to confusion, and disturbing trends (such as referendums limiting groups liberties) so i dont really care to defend it

as i said the common usage of the word has changed in every day language. I hear political science professors refer to our country as a democracy on a daily basis. George Bush said we were bringing democracy to Iraq, but what has been created is a parliamentary republic.
