Seem like a good idea?

Well, I've been tinkering with the idea of doing a 6th order BP design for my Autotek sub. Since it loves ported boxes it shoud love 6th order BP's as well. I have a feeling this is either going to work really well, or just fail like no other...

Nice response, eh?

And without cabin gain!

Cool, do it.
Do you have any experience with 6th orders? Any advice as to what works best(ie: perhaps a larger front chamber size, and smaller rear chamber size)? I heard from someone that it's more important to have a larger front chamber since that's where a lot of the efficiency comes from...

PM 80inches, he's the local bandpass expert. My experience with them is fairly limited, and many years ago now.

Hey, there. I see you made a thread here too. I'm the one who posted over at TBP. It is nice to experiment with different box designs to see what they can do.

My main concern is that the sub won't like to be in a bandpass and would do better in a regular ported box. I could be wrong and the sub could perfrom great, but all subs do not belong in banpass boxes. When you build it be sure to update us on it. Should be interesting.

From what I've heard, subs that like ported alignments(high ebp) also like 6th orders, and subs that like sealed boxes(low ebp) also like 4th order BP's. Hopefully that's accurate. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I guess I'll just have to experiment and see what works.

this imo will work better for spl comps...

Thanks for the advice. The only issue is that my box can only be 21"(either deep or tall) to fit through my door. Since the sub has an OD of 20.5", that's why I had it designed the way I originally did. Having the sub fire to the side(towards either door) is just an impossibility right now.

How could that kind of design work with the up-firing configuration that I need? Do you have a link that shows different designs and has a couple calcs on it for designing?
