Second Battery

also, how many watts is this wire good for?
Wire is rated for Amperes. They say that KLM 1/0 is good for 250A. That's the biggest fuse I'd use on that stuff. Knu came right out and said it was designed for lighter current loads than the kolossus stuff.

But that's cheap as hell. I'd have picked up a couple spools if I were you and done some more runs for that price incase you wanted to upgrade later on.

would this be good enough for 3000wrms ?

right now I only have 1500wrms, but I wanted to either get another amp and strap them, or sell this and get a 3000w amp.

For 1 pos. run of 1/0 and a 250A fuse:

At 14.4V.....250A*14.4V=3.6kw.....Factor in about 75% efficiency.....3.6*.75=2700W

If your amp is more efficient, you will be closer.....But I'd do another run of 1/0 if I were you.

would I be safe for now, with the 1500wrms with 1 run?

and just to clarify, we're talking about runs of +,- that are going to the back batt correct?

Right.

I wouldn't run more than 250A through a single klm 1/0 wire. They say that right on their site.

And like my calculations show, you're fine up to right around 2.7kw, so with your 1.5kw amp, you'd be fine. If you bump up over 2.7 or so kw, I'd do another run of both + and - wire to your rear bat, though.

Thats fine then, for now i'll just do the single run, of both +,- from the front batt, do the big3, hook up the amp. if I have any extra, to do another run I will.

I already have some 0 gauge in there, but I don't know what kind it is. when I pull it out, i'll show it to you guys to see if I should just do my big3 with that, and do 2 runs of the knu wire.

edit: just to add, I'm not sure if its true "0 gauge" as I didn't install it, local audio store installed it about a year ago (when I was a noob :p)

I plan on ripping it out this weekend, so its all ready when I actually receive my stuff. I can't even pound now, now that I checked, i'm dropping to 10volts! i'm not going to risk my amp that low......
