Second battery question

Random thought I just had. I have never ran 2 batteries but i remember reading a while ago the second battery should be as close to the amp as possible. Am I remembering this correctly? Im in the middle of a jeep build and the only place I have room to put a second battery is up front by the first battery. They actually sell brackets to hold 2 batteries in the stock location. Will it do me any good to have 2 optimas under the hood?

Im running 1 10'' at 2k watts with a 136A alt.

Thanks guys.

Install them both together DON'T FORGET TO FUSE BETWEEN EACH BATT one from the Maine batt and the one going into the second batt, and one going to the back from the second batt ( pos to pos neg to neg )ground the second batt to the frame and run you a power wire from second batt as a run to the back to the amp with some good wire you should be fine.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

yep = 2 batts are better than one - no matter where they are located.

but idealy strictly for the best possible scenereo you can get is to have the second battery as close to the amp as you can realisticly have it be. ( less than 2.5 ft wiring )
