should i put my 2 12in alpine type r's in a ported or sealed box. i heard that u lose alot of sq when u port it. please help

You do lose a lot of SQ...

The Type-R's were really made to perform their best in a sealed box...they are mainly SQ drivers...

you won't loose much if your tuning is low. tuning to the low 20hz's would retain A LOT of sound quality.

Well....the description of the box doesn't match the picture....description is for a bandpass box....and they don't say what type of material the box is made out of.

My first recommendation would be to build your own box....but if you really want to buy a pre-fab one, I'd recommend something like this http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/RTE32512

And if you decide to go ported, you will have to make the box yourself.

i found a guy selling his box that is ported and has used 2 type r's for $50 with shipping, i am just worried that it wont sound good in a ported box because this sub was made for sq, i dont want to lose alot of that sq.

What are the specs on the box and what is it tuned to?

1.77 ported box thats all i know about it, he said that they sound amazing in his civic, i have a mitsubishi montero sport ls.
