sealed Brahma/XXX ??

I'm looking at getting either a 12 or 15" Brahma or XXX paired with probably a nine.1 or PG Tantrum 1200.1. I only want one so I can cut down on space usage in the hatchback of my 98 Eclipse. I currently have 2 12" sealed and the box is about the same size as a ported one for a 12 or 15. So my only option to save space is to go with a sealed box. Now I have a few questions. Would running a sealed box really be that bad since everyone wants theirs ported? What kind of dimensions am I looking at for either sized sub? And would either the Brahma or XXX perform better in the sealed box?

I'd go with the XXX since it has a little more excursion and can handle more watts consistently. Go with a 15 inch and that should be plenty loud, nothing is wrong with sealed, ported is just louder but how often will you really use the extra output that ported offers?

UMMM, it is 4mm which is not very much but mechanically the XXX can handle more power, thermally they are the same. In a larger sealed box you can hear the Brahma distort and suspension slam around 800/1000 watts depending on the frequency.

build a sealed box..dont do a prefab.. david from RE recommends about 2cu ft after displacement. if ur close to me in pittsburgh..i could build u one. let me know.. we can work something out..

Well first I have to decide between a 15" Brahma or XXX. I'd prefer to get a new one, so the Brahma would be on backorder, not sure about the XXX. Haven't checked into where I can order one from.

And I'm in Lock Haven right now but live in Tamaqua. Basically I'm 2+ hours away while at school and all the way across the state while I'm at home. It'd have to be shipped. Not a big deal to me, having to pay shipping costs.

Edit: Definitely not ported. While I'd rather have it ported, I want some of my trunk to be able to put crap in.
