Sealed box too big..... what happens?

There has to be something missing from this liter to cubic foot conversion. I came up with the same conclusion looking at some conversion sites and such. Maybe its the stupid engineer in me coming out, but if you assume a 5" diameter and that the bottle is 12" tall (I don't have one on hand to measure) then the bottle would displace approximately 0.14 ft^3 which is a bit better than the 0.04 ft^3 you get with the conversion. Approx 14 2 liter bottles will equal a cubic foot. That is for sure, correct.

What is it, exactly that you don't like the sound? A lot of people love the MAX's IB... and that's pretty close to what you're doing here.

The 2.5cft. enclosure will give you more authority at the lowest octaves, but a little less output up higher. A larger enclosure sometimes has a little dryer sound and also has lower power handling, as well.

I guess experimentation will tell you what you like, ultimately... But if you're not driving the sub past it's limits with the power you have on tap, I don't know how much of a difference a smaller enclosure will make for you. Have you ever looked at ID's graph comparing the recommended sealed enclosure compared to the IB set-up? There's not a very big difference between the two, IIRC.

what about the foam filler stuff they have at home depot? It's the yellow thing that when sprayed expands and solidifies pretty firmly. It'll have very low weight too!
