As I've heard, SE's lean towards SQ. The R would be better for spl.

The SE is a good sub, but the type R's CAN get louder.

Type R can get a bit louder.. I would choose SE. I am a bit biased but i've heard both woofers.

go to best buy .. buy a typeR and build a box ... if you dont like it just return it
