SDC2.5 vs Type-R

I was stuck between 8 10" type rs or 8 10" sdc 2.5s

After doing research I came to the conclusion the rs were the best for the buck. audioque was $1232.00 shipped. I bought the type rs today for $871.60 shipped.

Well each are $140 a piece so price isn't the issue, I'll be getting 2 12s of whatever I pick.

The HDC will blow the Type-R away, but I'm looking at the SDC.

Apparently people keep bringing up the lows they can hit... I thought the Type-Rs hit lows wonderfully when I heard them.

" The AudioQue SDC2.5 sounds about exactly what you need sounds better, gets louder than the Type R."

AQ FTW AGAIN!!!

yet another comparison between the SDC2.5s and the Type arrrgghs. This fellow owned the SDC2.5's and the Type Rs.

"Impression on the AQ SDC2.5's

First off, these subs seem very well built, the motor is substantial in size and they are pretty hefty (don't seem as heavy as my Type R's were though). Performance wise these subs completely blow the Type R's out of the water. I was worried because many people told me these subs were not going to be better than the Alpines, boy were they wrong. The motors absolutely throw the cone around with ease. They are a tad bit louder than the the type r's overall but they reproduce the low frequencies much better. SQ wise I would say that these are superior to the type r's because of the better low frequency response and the ability to keep up with quicker beats. I played a few of my favorite Slayer songs and the subs easily kept up with the fast drum beats. Overall I would easily recommend these over the Type R's and they come in only about 50 bucks more per pair."

Sorry man, but I'm getting the Audioque amp final.

Ok, let's completely forget about sound quality, which will get louder. You guys say the AQ will hit the lows better, so do you mean it will get louder, or just not sound crappy?

It appears the SDCs have a foam surround. Can anyone confirm this? I've felt my friends foam surround on his MTX subs and it feels cheap and unreliable.

Edit/ Which requires a bigger box? The Type-Rs is 1.75, and I can't find the AQs.

Well, I was planning on building a box with the help of my dad and some tools, and he told me he doesn't plan on helping me. So, I might just roll with a prefab.

I plug the specs into RE enclosure calc, and each port looks tuned to about 32-33 hz. I can get the box for 90 shipped, so that seems cheaper than what I can have someone build me from here. Any info on getting a custom box for about the same price would be nice, doesn't have to be carpeted.. And which sub would work best in this prefab?
