scratching speakers

own a civic, so of course i have a bad head gasket after about 11 years of having this car. Sent to shop, got it fixed... but i think they fancied my stereo setup, and of course i forgot to take out the radio. The amp gain was set to highest sensitivity when i have that 8v eclipse 8445 unit. My speakers are suddenly playing like theres a dying record in there and at lot lower volumes. Were they clipped to death or please, please is it just a short?

As the coils heat up from the excessive volume and clipping the voice coils will swell inside the gap and start to make scratching noises.

i started the car twice in about 2 hour intervals, when everything was cold, and they would play just fine. after 3 minute boom they started going into **** mode. is this more confirmation of vc rubbing? if it is then i should be rendering them deadbeats?
