Say goodbye to your HD-DVD players, Blu Ray is here to stay...

I just got some info that a VERY big label will be leaving Blu-ray for HD-DVD and making an announcement at CES next week.
Should be interesting...
I'm calling BS on that til I here it from a reliable source. It wouldn't make sense now that Bluray was starting gain an edge.

They are both going to fail in the end. I'm not paying $30 for a movie that looks marginally better than a DVD with good upsampleing...... and I'm a quality junkie.

Now ask the REAL consumers... old people, lower middle class, trailer trash //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif ....... to pay more than double for movies that they can't see a difference on their Daewoo TV??? Not gonna happen.

My ps3 is about 3x quieter than my 360. But if I put my ps3 on its side it becomes much louder for some odd reason.
ps3 has a much better value for the money imo
You mean the PS3 is 1/3 as loud as the 360... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif (I like that wording better.)

Anyway, I am going to have to agree. My brother owns a 360 and I have friends that own 360's and everyone of them has some sort of little flaw, defect, problem, or annoyance.

Problems range from sounding like a jet plane, to overheating, to randomly not being able to read disks, to being a TERRIBLE DVD player, etc etc...

I'm calling BS on that til I here it from a reliable source. It wouldn't make sense now that Bluray was starting gain an edge.

Every 'business' article I read backs Sony. Mostly because they aren't going to let HD-DVD win. Plus, Sony is actively fighting HD-DVD on the studio front, just shy of medieval warfare.

Every 'trade' article I read is so full of BS I want to puke.

So that is why I wait, 'trade' articles are pushing their own agenda to try to damage one format or the other.

You do realize that in a few years analog cable is being phased out and the # of people who do not watch hd will be similar to those with dial up internet/no internet today?

Hahaha, I was told Warner Bros. is ditching Blu-ray completely and going exclusively with HD-DVD.

That's funny, I've been reading articles that say there is no way HD-DVD will pick up WB.

And if they do they are going to lose money offering the WB their deal. (Sort of like the 150 million the lost to romancing another studio which has been having talks with BR)

You do realize that the government is giving $50 checks to people to buy the $50 ATSC - analog converter box for their existing tvs?

It's hard to realize.... but a HUGE portion of our population could give a rat's *** for quality. Dvd did so well because they are smaller, and you don't have to rewind them...they're easy to use. That's why cd killed cassette. That's why MP3 have done so well with the younger generation.... they're easy.

We're Americans..... we'll go back to black and white tv if it means we can be 5x more lazy.

That's what I'm thinking. What I've seen from here is typical of the demographic...20 or 30-somethings that go with the tide of whatever's new...there's a sizable chunk of the market that doesn't play video games, doesn't care about game platforms and doesn't have an HDTV yet. So this format war is still largely irrelevant to them.

Analog VHF/UHF transmission is being phased out...
