Saving For A New System: Help Please

Hey I have an 03 Grand Marquis and I'm about to start saving up to put a system in it. I don't want anything thats going to make me have to change my battery or alternator in my car or anything like that. Just a nice good system that thumps. I'm thinking of getting two 12" Type-R's but I'm not sure of what amp to use to power them. And can anyone reccomend a good HU as well. I just need an idea of how much money I should save up.

Now that I think about it 2 Type- R's is a bit much for what I'm trying to do. Can someone reccomend something that bumps but not like Type-R's. Maybe two 10's?

Maybe a 12" Fi SSD on around 750 rms in a good ported enclosure would do you good, not cost an arm and a leg, and you wont really need electrical upgrades...But like was said above me, the big 3 never hurts and will help out

The HU choice is about what kind of stuff you want to feed into the amp. AM/FM? HD Radio? Satellite? CD's? DVD's? iPods? Memory sticks? Memory cards? Do you want to add some DIN 1/2 accessories like EQ's, voltmeters, DVD players and such? Do you want a screen? A nav system? Perhaps a multi-CD changer and having the HU being compatible with it?

The location of Virginia suggests you will be within range of HD Radio broadcasts, so you may wish to look at that option. See what you currently have in hand for home and portable audio to figure out what kind of other items that will work for a HU.

You also have the option of sticking with the factory radio and going with a line-level amp to save money that can go toward a better grade of speakers. The door mount speakers of a Grand Marquis are ideally suited for upgrading for SQ, much better than my poor old Brougham...LOL!

Once you prioritize your wants, the solution will fall into place...I hope!

When the time comes I'll probably ask someone from here to build a box for the sub for me. And as far as the HU I really like the one I listed above because it seems to have everything that I'm looking for and I can probably find one reasonably priced. Thanks for the suggestions for the amp though. Any other suggestions are more than welcome
