Alright ladies and gentlemen, I have been doing car audio installation for about two years, the DIY version. I have never needed to come across this problem before, until I decided to do a major overhaul of my car's sound system.
I own a 2000 toyota corolla. Stock system was ok but I just placed in a 12 inch sub and amp to fill in the music...or so I thought. Down to business. My overhaul will now feature MTX TAS652 6.5's components up front, TDX 6903 6x9's in the rear deck , and two 12" Audiobahn AW1251T in a slot port custom fiberglass box. Powering the mids and highs is an 800 watt coustics 4 channel AMP-800Q and a DUB8001 monoblock powering the subs. My main problem is finding the right size power wire to use to power the two amps along with the right fuse size. The coustics amp is using two 30A fuses and the monoblack uses two 25A fuses. I am right now using a 6 gauge power wire with a 30 amp fuse to power my current setup. But this new setup I know requires a lot larger wire and a higher fuse size.
I plan to use one main wire for about 10 ft and break it down into a distribution box to output into two smaller power wires.
What size should the main power wire be, what should be the amp rating of the fuse on the main power wire, the what size should I use for the secondary wires, and what should be the amp rating of the fuses ins the distribution block?
Any help would be great.
