running .5 ohms with a 1 ohm stable amp..?

0 gauge wiring h/o alt and nice batteries... 2 or more. and also a different amp...those PA's wouldnt like .5 but check your end result with a dmm with the subs in the box you may have the amp seeing >1 ohm...

8 gauge wire? 3.5f cap?

unfortunately i didnt know much about systems until this site. that was prior to me getting all i have now... but i think you didnt read the rest of my sig //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/plthumbsdown.gif.d7966af824c93c6021d1aae1778b1c19.gif

what subs and box? plenty of juice for the amp...it doesn't really matter about the alt\wire tho...the sub, amp and box is more important but proper voltage is second to impedence rise\final load

lol, .05 is about as close to a theoretical short as one can get. Maybe that old school US Amps VLX-400 could take it since they were able to weld with it.

Regardless, this old fart can't get over you young whipper snappers who would rather run the risk of turning your amp into a grill with flames and all by running it at .5 ohms versus running two amps at 1 ohm. Sorry, but I just don't get it.

amperage draw gunz....2 amps strapped could pull more amperage than 1 amp at .5 ohm...which really wouldnt be .5 if you think of impedence rise.

hell my box had my 3510 sittin at 2.5 ohm on sunday....sux when your amp is rated at 1200@ 1ohm and your at 2.5...also sux when your battery craps out...and doesnt hold voltage under load....

.05 ohm? Well none will do that.
There are/were a few that could. But as a rule you are correct. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Me either. He would be fine leaving it at 2 until he can at least upgrade, but I am thinking he cant wait and would rather risk ****ing some shit up. Some things will never change.

You sort of have the right idea. He didnt say anything about strapped amps and all other things equal, two amps at one ohm will almost always draw less current than trying to run a car amp at .5ohm

As far as your system, efficiency at a given frequency as well as other factors are a lot more important than the power rating on your amp.
