Run an amp at 0.5 ohms or strap two amps?

Hey guys, I want to know what you would do in my situation, I have two Skar ZVX 12s and they are dual 2 ohm so would you guys get a solid amp ( im thinking a AQ 3500) and run it at 0.5 ohms (assuming I have proper electrical) or would you guys run two of the same type of amps at one ohm each on each sub? Please let me know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif (I havent done any big electrical upgrades so if I go with 0.5 I may have to shell out a bit more on electrical upgrades but meh, should have solid electrical anyways)

i would run the single aq. less can go wrong in the gain setting on one amp. if the subs will share the same airspace in the enclosure u will run into loading and phase issues, unless u strap the amps at 2 ohm.

If your worried about one 3500 at half ohm you can't run two 3500's at one ohm
I would be running different amps if i was strapping //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks man, I think Ill just end up going with the single AQ 3500 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The running 2 amps strapped will be cleaner sounding. Also strapping amps you only have to worry about the master amps settings You'll also get more power from 2 amps that one of the same rated power. Just a FYI. A 3500 rms amp needs extra batteries and a ho alt. so either way you need to upgrade the electrical

Can you explain why it would sound better? Yeah man about electrical I'm going to run like 4-5 C&D 78 AH batts and get a HO ALT a little down the road. I didn't even know what voltage drop was until I put my car on a meter while bumping and read 10.0v //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

By sounding better means the subs will get a cleaner signal from the amps. So more efficient. Easier on the electrical

You won't hear a diff running 1 @ .5 vs 2 strapped @ 2ohm. I've run numerous set ups both ways.

You also won't gain much power wise with 2 @ 2ohm. So I'd upgrade electrical and run the single amp at .5. I've been running AQ and Crescendo amps at .5 for several years with no issues...
