Rockford HE2 and MTX 225HO

I currently have two 12 inch Rockford HE2's being powered by an MTX 225HO. I've wired them into a 1 OHM load. The MTX amp is rated at 400 RMS in 1 OHM. I found that it pounds hard. But I was wondering if I should get a new amp to sqweeze more bass out of my subs? They are after all rated at 400 RMS each sub.

I've seen bench specs in the 900 watt range on the 225HO, I would think that would be enough power... If you're running the woofers sealed, you'd get a nice output spike from a good ported box..

You really think my amp is good enough? Specs read that I only put out 400 RMS, and the signed test paper that came with it says it goes up to about 613 RMS. I got my subs in a sealed box. I listen to R&B and Hip hop. Would a ported box really give me that much of an advantage?

I really like that amp... top line in its day. A ported box would slam for rap and such.. much louder than the sealed..
