I have an old school mtx 4 channel. Its rated at 37.5 Rms @4 on 12.4

This thing is big heavy and fused at 75 amps. W/o a clamp how do I know about how much power it really does as I have read all the os mtx is underated

Spec sheet on mtx's website says 90watts dynamic at 14.4

I dont have an oscope either, was just curious as im selling it and im sure buyers would like to know

thnx for your info

If it is the 304, I am sure most buyers interested will know that they were/are seriously underrated, mine clamped at 45 per channel (rounded) . The thing is a great mid power 4 channel. definitely older technology, though, not very efficient, and puts out a good deal of heat.

My other question is if it only does 45 then why is it fused so high. Say it does 90 at 2 then bridge front and back thats 380, so why would you need almost twice the fusing for it?

Im not saying I go by the fuse size im just saying at 40 amps worth of fuse you could grt 380 watts easily. So why the extra 35 amps of fuse if that makes sence

If its the old thunder or blue thunder amps it will do double rated, that was back in the 'cheater amp' days when comp classes went by power

edit- curious on the 75amps of fusing, that fuses are in it? Sounds like someone blew one and stuck whatever they has in it

No issues there. The amp will output depending on the speaker's impedance rating. Are you using a component x-over or is only the tweeter with x-over?
