sorry, newbie question here.

the rms wattage: is that the minimum power the sub needs to operate?

or, what happens if your amp gives the sub less power than its rms power?

power requirement is enclosure dependant.

RMS is just what the recommended power is, In a proper enclosure of course. You can give the sub less or more than it's rated RMS and it'll play fine.

Be careful how you say that. You can give the sub more or less power if you are careful setting up the gains and not clipping it. Most woofers out I wouldnt recommend putting more than 200 rms to unless ya really know what you are doing.

is the a1300hct amp (1200 rms@1 ohm) from audiobahn ok for the aw1208t(1500@1 ohm)?
