how is it that lets say bd1500 for example, that it has an rms rating at 4ohms which is 750, and the rms at 2ohms is 1500. my ?'s are as followed. is the peak at 4ohms 1500watts? how come if you can get 1500rms out of 2ohms, the peak isn't like 2600watts or something? i saw a birthsheet for a bd1500 and it said all channels driven at full power into 2ohms like 1720watts. it said also that voltage as at 13.59. now would this saying driven at full power mean rms or the peak power put out at 2 ohms?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif if it is rms then what might the peak be?

Typically RMS Power is 1/2 peak power. Lower ohm loads also force an amplifier to work harder- as the resistance is lower, which in a way- "fools" it into producing more power. Varrying Voltage will also effect the final power outputs of an amplifier. While RF may use 13.59V DC, a typical cars charging system operates at 14.4V DC while running and at about 12.36 Volts while off. No manufacturer uses the same tests to determine output power, therefore, thier in house measurements can varry depending on your cars charging system.

Likely, at 2 ohm, the particular amp in question was measured at peak output.

You should not concern yourself with peak output, this means little and IMO- should not even be measured as it misleads people. The Peak power is only the power of the amp at a brief musical burst, not all the time. The RMS rating is what the amp is guaranteed to produce all the time.- thus why it means more.

take it easy,

you've done a fine job boy, congradulations! well i used to have a mtx2300 and it was 300x2 rms and 750peak at 4ohms. so if i use bd1500 and get 1500x1 at 2ohms, i should be knocked out of my seat!!! the mtx2300 was powerful:D

No issues there. The amp will output depending on the speaker's impedance rating. Are you using a component x-over or is only the tweeter with x-over?
