RMS for a CVX

I have 2 12" CVX's. They are in a ported custom box. I am powering them with my SX 1250 kicker amp.

My question is, with the subs rms at 750 a piece, so 1500 watts total, I am underpowering my subs, Correct?

If this is true, is this ok?? Or should I sell the 1250 and get something bigger....

im sure your putting about 700 rms each if your electrical is good, that amp says 1250 but thats at 12 volts, it should put out 1300-1600, but im sure those cvx's could handle 1000 rms each

my birth note for the amp said 1326 or something close to that..

not anywhere close to what everyone says about the amps being a hell of a lot higher in watts....

The ZX750.1's bench well over 900.. But I would get a BXi-1606D or a ZX1500.1

ya i know the amps do, but for some reason mine is rated really low....

so leave it as is. Your really wont notice that much a difference by gaining like 300 watts

As long as your happy with it and set the gains properly it's no problem. I wouldn't bother with the BXi-1606 they're rated at 1600 watts but are slightly overrated, so you wouldn't see much of an improvement. The ZX1500.1 would do well on those but I'm not sure it would be worth it to upgrade, unless your wanting to squeeze out every possible db. Most of them have birthsheets around 1650 so your only looking at maybe 300 watts different. I'm not sure but that would probably be only a slightly noticable difference.

I love my SX1250 and wouldn't give it up.

The other thing I just remembered is that your SX puts out full power at 1 ohm and the ZX is at 2 ohms. So you would need to have 2 dual 2. Right now you should have 2 dual 4 ohm subs.

When he is already feeding the woofers 1300 watts an extra 300 really isnt going to matter. In theory he would have to send the woofers 2600 watts to get around a 3db gain. Thats around where you can tell.

if you want to waste your money in buying a bigger amp then go ahead but as a few people have told you 2-300 more watts is NOT gonna make a difference

Don't worry about birth sheets. I cam almost guarantee that if you exchanged your amp for one with a higher birth sheet, you would hear absolutely no difference. Birth sheets are overrated and are to just give a general idea of what that amp can produce. Remember though, temperature and other factors can cause your amp to put out more or less daily.hth
