RL-P vs. XXX My review

sq is subjective. if you say the xxx sounds just as good SQ wise as the RL-P, it better have the words "i think" or equivalent above it... IMO.
and the main question to ask here is, is that loudness worth $200 more per driver?

Absolutely, the XXX sounds like 2 RL-P's. Its not just "slightly louder" like i said before, it literally hits twice as hard. So yeah, i think its worth it, adn if you are running over 1000 watts, the RL-P should not even be in the running. Ive had like 4 different subs (JL W3, Infinity Perfect, RL-P, XXX) so i have a have a "decent" ear for sound quality, and the XXX has fantastic sound quality as well.

alright im' gonna say some things that people that might know what they are talking about would say, if they were up at this time.
1.) the test was in a sealed box. one driver or the other may not be designed for a sealed box.

2.) the box was an irregularly small sealed box. if i remember correctly both subwoofers (assuming a 15" driver as normally done) like more around 2 cubes for each sub.

3.) the rl-p wasn't designed for high spl and power handling, and the xxx was.

i believe i've made my points.

nah man, convince me!!! I wanna get the absolute best out of this sub! What if i were to go for a 2 cube sealed box?

you want the full potential out of it then port it, trust me. 2-3.5^3 ported tuned to around 30Hz would be perfect for a xxx12.

Well, like i said before i have a hatchback (f-body) and my car is known for having great sound acoustics, so thats probably why it sounds so loud and intense in my car. And believe me, im not exagerating, i heard a setup of 2 12 HC's, and this is almost as loud as that.

No, im just clearing up info about it. TOns of people dont' even own one yet compare it to the XXX and saying a SPL/SQ based driver, when its clearly not. The XXX is a true 50/50 SPL/SQ split. Half the people on this forum talk about subs like they own them, when in fact they have never even heard them in their life.

Both manufactures reccomend a 1 cube sealed box for their 12 inch drivers, so whats the problem here? Nothing was wrong with the RL-P, its just not an SPL sub. The XXX on the other hand is meant for SPL though.
