RL-P vs. XXX My review

Ok,
So let's compare the XXX to a sub that hasn't come out yet...

Brilliant!

The RL-S sounds like an insane sub, but your right. I made this thread to help you guys out that were stuck between 2 subs much like i was, and hopefully you can buy the right sub the first time unlike me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif What it comes down to, the

RL-P is a fantasic SQ sub, but wasn't geared towards high SPL at all, the XXX has very good SQ as well, but is a complete SPL monster.

wasnt it mrray that did the original review?...it did seem very misleading. this fellows review seems to be a lot more accurate, considering the two subs.

well, that guys review is what caused me to get the RL-P, and once i got it, i was extremely dissapointed with the output of it, it wasn't loud at all. But the XXX is a completyl different story, its almost TOO loud, and it goes soooooo low. I can't eveen imagine what it would sound like ported, probably not even necessary.

If you want pure SQ, go with the RL-P, if you want SQ as well as an SPL monster, go with the XXX. Thats basically all it comes down too. But don't expect the RL-P to hit hard enough to scare people, thats XXX territorty. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ooohh...trust me, bro. port it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif .

Why though? I think its completely unneccessary. I don't wanna lose SQ, and the thing is already so god **** loud, any more and it would be more rattles in my car than bass i think.

For you guys that have never heard an XXX, the sub is just completely violent, like it violently shakes your car, its an experience all in its own. My friend has 2 12 W3's in his car, and this sub absolutely murders his two subs, my dad told me its so loud its "silly". //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

alright im' gonna say some things that people that might know what they are talking about would say, if they were up at this time.

1.) the test was in a sealed box. one driver or the other may not be designed for a sealed box.

2.) the box was an irregularly small sealed box. if i remember correctly both subwoofers (assuming a 15" driver as normally done) like more around 2 cubes for each sub.

3.) the rl-p wasn't designed for high spl and power handling, and the xxx was.

i believe i've made my points.

Both are 12 inch driver's. Both websites sugessted a 1 cube foot sealed box or below. The XXX is just the superior driver IMO, it has all the soundquality of the RL-P, but with added extreme amounts of SPL. The RL-P may have been designed for SQ, but the XXX sounds just as good SQ wise as the RL-P. Also, the SoundSplinter website says the the RL-P is good up to 1200 watts, which is around what i was giving it. Yet it wasn't handling the power very well at all, the XXX is pretty much handling the power like a champ.

nah man, convince me!!! I wanna get the absolute best out of this sub! What if i were to go for a 2 cube sealed box?

Whatever there RE boy
there is a reason why people all praise this sub, and now with owning one i see why. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

sq is subjective. if you say the xxx sounds just as good SQ wise as the RL-P, it better have the words "i think" or equivalent above it... IMO.

and the main question to ask here is, is that loudness worth $200 more per driver?
