Rl-i 8" build

nice box m8 yeah gotta love the super long ports //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i see guys with 12-18's with a port 15x6x8in deep and here oyu are at 9x2in and have to run 50in long to tune it right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

but the end result will pay off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

that port could almsot make it a transmissinline type box, hehe JK

if this is directed at me, I already got a great deal from Jason. I don't really care too much about a round port. I have 2 4" ports in my 12" enclosure, and I can't really tell a HUGE difference between that and a slotted port. Though I agree about the statement regarding 45's in the corners. Though, once the box is set, I wont move it at all, so nothing should happen to it.
don't let these guys make you have doubts....i never put them in peoples box's unless they specifically request it. I've added them to my own boxes and heard NO difference to my ears. Unless you are going for pure numbers (see sundown's results thread) , or are pure SQ comps where each freq is metered...i've truly heard no difference

if you got a great deal, then good. just i always thought that areo ports should be used instead of slot ports because of there efficiency. and in actuality ports should always be used, unless the port length exceeds the enclosure lengths.
50" port ..... 29.375" long box= you do the math

People use aero ports because they ARE more efficient so you can use less port area and fit a straight round tube in the box. No one uses the same amount of port area as a slot port on an aero port, it'd be just as long, and folding the aero's just adds turbulence which defeats the purpose of having the aero port in the first place. It would be impossible to use an aero port for a lower tuning like that in such a small volume. Most of the aero would be external and it would be ugly. The way Bones did this is probably the most efficient and that box design should be great for that little 8" moofa. With the small net volume, it'll have great cone control and pretty good power handling while still being able to wang those low notes with that long *** port.

Great build bones. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Thats the only bad part about those little beasts...they take such a long port/vent you gotta inner/outter (what I like to call the length) the wood pieces. And the mounting lip on them is too small. I own 2 myself in a vented box I built, and boy is it heavy.

Just got the ninja box in Jason, and man let me tell you bro. You did a SUPERB job on the build quality. I swear it's best box I've ever owned (terms of quality) and the price could not be beat. 110% satisfied with the box aesthetics. I WILL test it out tomorrow (just got out of work, but I received the box earlier today) Here are a few pics for anyone interested.
