I went to my car audio place and they told me when i had my two 10w3's (300watt dual 4 ohm coil) put in they wired it wrong for my Rockford fosgate p6001 and thats why they dont hit that hard. I dont know much about wiring subs but if you take an ohm meter and measure each side it reads about 7.3. Are they wired wrong? what should it read? Im planing on getting a new JL 500-1, any suggestions on rewiring my subs if they need it?

Cant it hurt the sub to if its not rated for something with that high a resistance? What can i do to get it back to 4 ohms?
can't hurt it running it at a higher ohm load, you'll just have subs getting less power. you can't directly hurt the sub, but since it's wired wrong, you'll want more out of it, might start clipping, then you'll hurt the sub.

so yeah it's not good to have it the way it's wired.

So do you think i should spend the money and get the jl500-1? Or first rewire my subs and see how it sounds with my current rockford fosgate p6001 before spending $500.

Also, if im wiring my subs to my rockford p6001 (2 channel) amp and my sub box has two terminals (One for each sub i guess) how would i wire it? Can i just run each 4 ohm sub to their own separate channel?
