Review on Sundown E8's

The DDs cost twice as much //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I would not expect these to meter as high on a drop-in as the 1508. In a good setup they can still get loud but the DD was designed more with raw SPL figures in mind than the E8.

I would expect these to have more ultra low-end, they are a true SUB-woofer - you can get an F3 of 25 hz with these little things in a low tuned ported box! 0.6 cubes tuned to 30 hz to be exact.

We concentrated on the following for this sub:

1) Low depth - 4.25" deep

2) Low-end extension

3) Small enclosure size

4) MSRP of $99

All that plus the OP review and PM seriously got my attention. Thanks to both of you.

yea i never really have seen any ported reviews and i kinda wanna try these.....

Somebody want to buy my 9512 w/carbon cap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I'm running just one of these right now in 0.6 cu ft as recommended, port tuned to 32 Hz and with the gain down to give it, I guess about 175RMS, it sounds great! Clear and low.

Very impressed for a single 8.

I built the box just to test the single 8 idea, I think I'll leave it in untill after x-mas now just to go through more of my fave low bass tracks!

Second box with 2 E8's coming after x-mas.

i should do a wall of 16 of these in USaci for SB3..... Hrmmm

a thought.................. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I am having a Ported box built for mine as we speak, Not going to hyjack the op's thread but I"ll be posting a small quick review and vid.

I am doing 4 in 2.4 ft^3 tuned to 35 Hz Running a Memphis 16-ST1000d 1100rms to the 4.

I might upgrade the amp to something a tad more later down the road.

hmmmmmmm.....i wonder how 4 on my 3000d would sound //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

but really question for the OP

Do these match up against the DD 1508???
Like I said 2 of these are as loud if not louder then a DD1508. Bear in mind the DD was also in an optimal box for the sub, it had the upper hand

Keep us posted on this. This is right up my alley. I'd love to do 4 with the same setup, but probably with a bit more power.

Yep, I remember talking to you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That truck is even louder now (I sold it to one of my reps) - it will be getting some of my "Monster" subs shortly.
