Subs size questions

Alright, Im just curious on this...

Say you have the same brand subs, running off the same brand amp. You have 12'', 15'', and an 18''. How many 12'' subs will it take to equal an 18''? If you get what im saying? And so on for 15"..

Like will 1 18'' be louder than 2 12" or 2 15''?

Just saw a cone area thread that kinda helps. But does more cone area mean louder? SPL wise

it's not the only factor, but it's more efficient to run 1 larger sub, than multiple smaller ones. cone area is a factor.
