Review My Setup (Please)

No way $600 would be fair. I've done it a couple times and would never dream of charging that. Given that they probably have more than one person and are well versed in the area of installation it should be pretty easy for them. I would think anything more than $200 for everything is a little pricey.
I hope you can find somebody to do it for $200... That 600 was the last quote I was given for an install, I declined it. But we are talking a full blown deal new speaker wire, hu, subs, power, etc. Your best bet is to call and price it out either way.

So it looks like because im in Cali and hes in Tennessee that shipping will make the box cost more than it needs to.

Does anyone know of a diagram for a box for these two subs, I might just try to make it myself...

Alright so I ended up ordering a box from crutchfield, I know you'll all be upset I did that, but I made an executive decision that it was best.

Now on to some final questions. Will I be needing a capacitor? I do not know what kind of alternator I have, but I would assume its not too weak given that its in a 98 tahoe with a 5.7L V8. Maybe that doesn't mean anything but if I remember correctly, trucks tend to have larger alternators. Anyways, I've heard that they are pointless most of the time, does anyone else have any input on that?

Lastly, if I were to screw the box down to my tahoe, and the amp to the box, does screw placement have any effect on anything, assuming it doesn't screw into the sub itself?

We arent gonna be upset with the box you bought. YOU ARE.

No offense but why are you still asking us for help if your just gonna ignore the advice and do whatever you want?

Not upset, just disappoined lol. Its your money and setup, I tried a bargan box and wasn't pleased. Maybe you will be ok with it, and I hope it does work out for your application. It's not like you can't switch out boxes later if you choose to. The general feeling is that the box is as important as the subwoofer itself.

As a rule of thumb you never want to screw an amp to a sub box. Screws inside the amp can come loose, roll around and do havick to the board...

You'll be happy with that enclosure. Until you get a demo of what a car audio system is suppose to sound like. Happened to me a long time ago...been addicted to car audio ever since. Ahh, good times. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you want the experience, get the cap. Then, once you figure out that it does absolutely nothing for your electrical system, you'll then want to upgrade your electrical system properly and we'll be glad to help you further with hopes that you pay attention this time instead of blatantly ignoring all of our advice. The alt is usually a 130a.

Mounting the amp to the box is a no no unless you take to proper measures to protect the amp from vibrations (especially with a prefab enclosure).

Not to mention broken caps and components due to the vibrations. (Happened to one of my D9's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif ).

Funny you guys should mention that I didnt listen to anything you said when I changed my entire setup except for the box and wiring. Got the AB subs and amp and a different deck. Its just that getting a box custom made didnt fit in to my budget at the moment and I couldnt find anyone to do it for a price I was willing to pay. To get it from Starr mountain would have cost upwards of $200 because of shipping.

If it makes a difference I got this box:

Sound Ordnance™ Bass Bunker Ported dual 12" subwoofer enclosure (Model BB122-175V) at Crutchfield.com

3.2 cu ft and tuned to 33 Hz

From what I understand 34hz is solid for these subs and 4cu ft is whats desired.
