REVIEW: 9887 vs. 880prs vs. CD7100

its the cable that is reccomended for alpine HU, not sure part number, i just called the shop that installed it and they said they had an instance with another customer for a different model Alpine HU where the same charging situation was happening. it turned out that it was a faulty HU causing the problem. i am bringing in my vehicle on wedn. and will find out then......will let ya'll know!!

Excellent review. Nice to see someone on this forum pays attention to detail. Only thing is I always remember NON motorized decks to have more rattling issues than the motorized ones. Maybe those are just the decks I've used.

Just got my 9887. I'd throw in my 2 cents since I've owned the 880 and now the 9887, but I'm only bumping one tweeter with my 9887 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif My initial impressions are that I like the 9887 better because of the ipod control, display, and I always hated Pioneer's scrolling because you had to push the side of the dial, and while driving, I'd always hit the center //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The text scrolling? You could make it auto-scroll on the 880.
Just scrolling through the menu's. Like when you want to adjust something, you have to push the right or left side of the knob, I'd always hit the center and **** it up. I also have slender fingers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Well if you guys didn't have sausage fingers you wouldn't have problems with Pioneers multi knob.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif:p:

Hmm rattling issues?
I was referring to this post. Not yours. I just decided to add that tidbit in my post.

Nice write up! Good thing the Alpine isnt motorized because my 9813 started rattling after a year.

i've owned the 9887 and eclipse cd7000 and i'm in the process of deciding whats next, either a pioneer p9, alpine double din with 701 processor, or an eclipse 7100 just can't decide if the p9 or 701 is worth the money.

I liked the cd7000 a little better then the 9887, the 9887 had a strange noise at 0db, not volume 0 but if you played a track that was recorded at 0db silence it had a noise that I couldn't figure out, i'm thinking it was actually the cd spinning and barely outputting from the radio...the cd7000 didn't have this

thats the only gripe i had with the 9887 besides that AWESOME unit, but I'm an eclipse guy...only thing the eclipse doesn't have is a pause button which isn't a big deal either.

Also on the eclipse it doesn't have a "sub" out rca, its non fader because you don't want the woofers fading either way to pull your sound stage or attention to the rear of the vehicle, you want a mono signal.

The SVC that others mentioned was the source volume control which would let you adjust for different inputs (cd changer, ipod, sirius, cd, radio..etc etc) so you didn't have to adjust volumes when switching playback methods.

The NF control on the unit is the subwoofer control
