Resume Building Tips?

With offshoring like it is, I'd find a way to add those 2 degrees. Every little bit helps to prove you can do a job better than a dood in India.
Yes, thing is the work i do is unlike actual coding. i do onsite database management and custom design apps for end users.

much different than the code junkies in india.

I will also be working for the university i currently attend so continuing ed wont be an issue

Aslong as access can be had remotely, the job can be done in India. We have DB people, custom service people, etc in India. They do (or atleast fail trying to do) many many of our jobs, its not just code junkies, its much deeper than that.

I'd think working in the university you have no worries there, but it may help for the future.

Look. I don't offer real advice often. In fact this might be the 1st, or 2nd time ever on this forum...
I have a hard on for marketing too.

If you can translate IT to Execs in any department (due to your CIS background) you will be making a 6 figure income in 5-10 years if you do it right and are in the right place at the right time. I'm not shitting you.

That is all. You're on your own unless you PM for assistance.

Good luck brah. Go get 'em.

Oh yes i know. I realize how dumb people in business are. After taking many of the stupid classes i realize how dumb business people are. The only reason why dumb people succeed in business is they get money from other dumb business people lol

seriously tho the way i found out about this job offer today was we had an it guy come in to explain some things with networking. After talking with him i found out about this job

Your first mission:
Use punctuation. Because without it, you look like a retard on training wheels. Seriously...

Do you really want to come off like SethPhillips?
Hey, c'mon now. I at least separate the thoughts into paragraphs. lol

I was typing that while I was on the pooper so thats my excuse.

Second Mission?

Do it.
Work your way into the infrastructure and figure out where the heart of the operation is. Grab it, own it, and don't let go.

At least until you find a new job that pays moar. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Agreed. The pay for this is about 3g more than the average income in the city. So thats not horrible.

What do you do for a living, if you don't mind me asking?

I once heard, you shouldn't list anything under a 3.0GPA as well. If you have a 3.0 or higher list it, if not don't.
True. It can be dependent upon the employer, too. Boeing doesn't like hiring above 3.2 GPA (at least for interns, so I imagine the requirements for full time are pretty high, too). NASA is above 3.0. Some companies don't really care, though.

NEVER list your GPA. No one gives a shit. Graduate and list your school.
That is all.
[no] Not if you're trying to get into the field. Do as above. If you've been working for a while and have experience it's not as important. But, breaking into the field... you need all the help you can get.

I spoke with my boss recently about resumes. He said he sees so many different ones that he doesn't really pay attention to format and that alot of what people say about it is not true (ie: must meet a certain format, must only be one page, etc). You need to tune your resume to be that of the job you're applying for. Something simple, yes, but you'd be amazed how many people have generic "objectives".

If you're just now getting into the field, keep it short. Don't put a bunch of BS in, but put valid things in. If you have no related job experience put things you have experienced and completed that can make you an assett to the company. Alot of resume making is common sense, but sometimes people stress themselves out over making it perfect that they look like garbge.
