Resonant Engineering got bought!

yeah i play golf with the owner of us amps/re i have the conections.

tell him that hundreds if not thousands long time customers, who have been with the company since the beginings of it in a small warehouse in arizona, and most happen to probly be more DIY expirienced enthusiest, all feel let down. RE still have records of customers since the begining, maybe offer a discount for customers in the system from withing the first 2 or 3 years (at least up tp the buy over) or a tiny discount, or group buy options, something.

greedy it may seem to ask this but it's the car audio crackheads like us that helpd get the word out there that RE is the shit and owns other things out there in that price range. it's heartbreaking for the die hard RE fans like myself that have been for years now. i mean how many of the 27,259 CA.com members have bought from re, none the less other forums across teh internet through the past few years? im sure im not the only one that'd spread the word abotu this great product and watch a single xxx 15 or mt shit on any daily driver it came across when showing off systems to friends. so many new re people have been brought to the company by this word of mouth from the fiends like us.....

maybe im being over dramatic, ina business world shizer like this happens all the time.....us amps saw the re bandwagon about to come into a frenzy, and jumped on it, and good for them (better than it being bought out by jl or audiobling or DEI (DIE) ? that'd be ludacris...

I think it's kind of funny that all of a sudden RE is starting to be as hated as eDuh. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I guess no one likes sell-outs.

So USAMPS is going to name all RE subs as there own ? Is Dave still going to design all the stuff ? I cant get any more RE products or what ?
from what I know RE will stay RE. David never designed all the stuff. Scott designed the stuff, but David did EVERYTHING else to keep the company going. You guys will more than likely have an alternative to RE if you just wait. There were some pics posted not too long ago on Termpro that looked kinda familiar. And yes, you can still get RE products but you must go through a dealer.

*BigDave-IA- The main reason I bought from RE in the first place is because of the recommendations of the knowledgable people on this forum. In addition to teh recommendation made by people here that I immensely respect, I also bought from RE because of:

a) They offered a fair price for their product...12" SE sub for $185 shipped! They still made a 100% profit on the product at that price level by my estimations. I can tell you from personal experience, small technology-based businesses have incredible markup on their hardware; one company I consulted with charged $12,000 for a machine which only cost $3,000 in parts and labor to manufacture.

b) Every time I called RE's office, I spoke with the production techs. Not a salesman. Not a "customer care consultant". Not a "customer service specialist/representative". I spoke to the guy who made my speaker with his own 2 hands. Therefore, when I ask a question, the guy would actually know what the hell he was talking about. With salesmen, they all have this mental defect where they cannot say, "I don't know. Let me check.". Instead, they make up an answer so they don't have to face their own shortcomings. I HATE it when people do that! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blow_up.gif.f2a780e8b12ae09e264cb01720b8dca2.gif

c) RE made a good product and catered to the knowledgable and saavy consumer. They didn't try to pull this crap of charging more just because they could. Instead, they epitomized what I think all companies should be: one that wants to do a good job for the sake of doing a good job, while making a fair profit. Unfortunately, companies like USAmp, Polo, Copenhagen Furniture, and virtually any homebuilder look for any excuse to squeeze as much money as they can from the consumer. The almighty dollar trumps integrity more often than not.

So...In response to USAmp being a company who cares more about creating ever-increasing profits, than one who provides a good product at a good price, I have decided I will never buy another RE/USAmp product ever again.

I will, however, continue to patronize audio equipment manufacturers who make a good product and charge a fair price for their products; preferably a smaller company like RE used to be.

*BassAddictJ- Too little too late. By taking the "grandfather" approach, it just confirms USAmp doesn't care about fair pricing; they just care about trying to keep as many customers as they can while they jack up their prices just because they can. Screw that noise.

*azbass- tell the owner that saavy consumers such as those on this board think he's a money-grubbing dickhead. He's obviously going to be targeting consumers who don't know any better (i.e., 17-year old rich kids who buy their audio equipment using daddy's credit card from a retail store). If you ask me, if they were to keep their prices similiar to what RE charged- okay, maybe a little more, like 10-15% more- they could ensure the RE brand would have greater market share due to a lower price than their competitors and higher quality products than other subs at the same price point. This would encourage lower prices from their competitors and encourage even more technological innovation for the competition to reduce costs and increase quality. But, obviously, the owner doesn't care about that. He just carews about lining his own pocket in the short term regardless of the long-term effects of his decisions. What an a.sshole.

*iagrdshaka- what happened with eD? BTW, I like your sig. Hahaha!

Long story //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

It's been some time now, so you'll likely hear a bunch of half-truths/newer-members-twisted-stories.

I'll keep it out of this thread as it's unrelated to the topic.

c hayhurst - I get your point. RE was an awesome company. One the best companies to deal with of all time. They offered "fair" pricing is an understatement. They offered the best pricing. Where else could you get a woofer like the SE for that little amount of money? So you say you will never buy from RE/US Amps ever again. If this is your attitude then so be it, but dont leave it to just one company. You shouldnt by anything from Rockford, MTX, JL, Kicker, Stinger, Memphis, Alpine, Pioneer, Sony, etc. You get my point. These are all companies that at one time were small, and look at them now. That is where RE/USAmps is trying to get, and i for one dont blame them. Stop being selfish and be happy for the company that you and others helped get to where they are today, even though you may no longer benefit from them.

this may answer a question i was having for the last few weeks.

I called about the XXX to get a price and about hit the floor. I swear i remebered them being around 600 bucks each. but the guy said no and quoted me something like 1200.00. was i wrong or did they used to be like half that price a few years ago.

Sounds like what everyone else is saying.

a doubling of prices overnight for no reason other than "because we can" is total bull$hit. It's because of that yuppie attitude that I'll never patronize those greedy bastards.

It's like bars charging $11 for a mixed drink because they want people to think they are "upscale", even though nothing has changed except the price.

It's a bunch of crap. What makes it worse is that there are enough idiots out there to go with the flow of such robbery.

Anyone know of any *ethical*, small companies like RE used to be? I'll gladly patronize them as long as they do a good job and charge reasonable prices for their products- just like RE used to...

Again, PHUCK USAmps!

For this day forward I WILL NO LONGER CARRY ANYTHING MAINSTREAM AND THAT INCLUDES SOUNDSTREAM.

I will go with the little guy as long as the products are uo to quality standards or above.

CAN I GET A AMEN!!!

Edit: Besides my HU and comps.
