*BigDave-IA- The main reason I bought from RE in the first place is because of the recommendations of the knowledgable people on this forum. In addition to teh recommendation made by people here that I immensely respect, I also bought from RE because of: a) They offered a fair price for their product...12" SE sub for $185 shipped! They still made a 100% profit on the product at that price level by my estimations. I can tell you from personal experience, small technology-based businesses have incredible markup on their hardware; one company I consulted with charged $12,000 for a machine which only cost $3,000 in parts and labor to manufacture. b) Every time I called RE's office, I spoke with the production techs. Not a salesman. Not a "customer care consultant". Not a "customer service specialist/representative". I spoke to the guy who made my speaker with his own 2 hands. Therefore, when I ask a question, the guy would actually know what the hell he was talking about. With salesmen, they all have this mental defect where they cannot say, "I don't know. Let me check.". c) RE made a good product and catered to the knowledgable and saavy consumer. They didn't try to pull this crap of charging more just because they could. I will, however, continue to patronize audio equipment manufacturers who make a good product and charge a fair price for their products; preferably a smaller company like RE used to be. *BassAddictJ- Too little too late.
